This class will teach the basics of understanding the interplay of light, aperture, shutter speed and ISO. We’ll also talk about creative use of these elements to achieve the shots you are looking for.

- Why are my pictures so blurry?
- How can I frame my images better?
- Understanding the limits of digital photography
- How a Histogram can make your pictures better
- Focus distance and depth of field
- Why your camera doesn’t always behave like it should
- Any specific topics important to you!
- The Rule Of Thirds
- The Golden Hour and using outdoor light
- Breaking the rules when it works for you
You’ll learn:
- How to take control of your camera
- How to take more creative photos
- What your camera is doing and how to get the most out of it
The workshop also includes 1 month of free email critiques and followup. I want to make sure the ideas presented in the workshop stick and will keep in touch to cover any additional questions you may have, as well as constructively critique photos you have shot.

Workshop Instructor, Peter West Carey
Peter has been fiddling with cameras for the last 20 years, using them first to capture wedding and nature photographs. He is a professional photographer based on Whidbey Island, WA, with a love for his daughter and travel. His photographic journeys have taken him to six of the seven continents and filling his time between travels with a long history of wedding photography. He currently has over 120 informative blog posts on Digital Photography School, where he is a regular freelance writer, and at Photo Tuts+.
